I had my regular client Kate and she wanted to change her hair style. I normally cut her hair differently every time anyway. Here is my inspiration by Morris Louis haircut.

It is so much fun to work when I got inspired by artists. As everyone has different hair types, hair textures, face shapes, growth patterns and so on. It even brings out peoples personalities into hair styles. I love making people feel better, good about themselves and making them feel more confident.

Thanks for visiting here and I hope you like it.

Kandinsky Red-Yellow-Blue

A few weeks ago, I went to Somerset House, The Courtauld Collection for Impressionists. Once again, I realised how beautiful the building was. Every corner of the architecture was elaborately decorated.

There are lots of impressionist paintings like A Bar at the Folies-Bergere by Edouard Manet (1882), Two dancers on a stage by Edgar Degas (1874),  Nevermore by Paul Gauguin (1897), Self-portrait with Bandaged ear by Vincent Van Gogh (1889) and so on.

The ones that I really liked was Wassily Kandinsky.

The Red Circle (1939)

This characteristic late work was painted in the year that Kandinsky gained French citizenship. It’s playful combination of ladders, grids, colourful shapes and a large sun-like disc provoke numerous possible interpretations. the painting’s open- ended imagery suggests Kandinsky’s awareness of French Surrealist art. Which he admired for its efforts to ‘create a new relationship with nature’

mur

Kandinsky (1910) Improvisation on Mahogany.

By 1910 Kandinsky had developed his art to the brink of abstraction. He started to group his paintings into three categories; ‘Impressions’. ‘Improvisations’. ‘Compositions’. The associations were intended to be musical, emphasising the sensation of colour, line and form freed from their descriptive functions. Here, isolated details can be ire of a women and the identified, such as the figure of a women and the outlines of a walled city, to the right. However, the textured patches of brilliant colour generate their own energy and harmony.

Also, a good thing about going to The Courtauld Collection was taking pictures. You can get closer to the painting so that you will be able to see the textures of art.

The paintings really inspired me and I couldn’t get out of my mind. The following day I went to work and one of my regular client Lucy came. I told her about my recent visiting at Somerset House and how much Kendinsky paintings inspired me and I suggested I could do something a different hair style for her.

Here is my haircut inspired by Kandinsky ‘Yellow-Red-blue’ and It’s one of my favourites art by Kandinsky.

You can see particularly with this painting, I love geometric shape, lines, strong colourful, also musical.  It all works together harmonically.

I cut three lines with different level with Graduation and disconnected length on front.

Thanks to Katie to let me to try this haircut and I loved cutting her hair. 😉

Thanks for visiting here. Hope you enjoyed reading it.

Stage of Mind – JeeYound Lee

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a long time since I wrote on this blog. It’s coming in the New Year, I decided to carry on ..

Korean Artist who specializes in creating the unseen. What she creates represents her emotions; they are self-portraits filled with fear, doubt, love and hope.  she transforms her 3 x 6 m studio into her dreams and feelings.

If you see her art that she created in the room, she places herself in each room.“Those self-portraits however are never frontal, since it is never her visual aspect she shows…”

“…but rather her quest for an identity, her desires and her frame of mind.” Even though most of her art is based on internal conflicts, the resulting room is filled with hope.

I hope you enjoyed it and have a great New Year!

Keep warm and see you soon. 😉

Alexander James

I recently found some very interesting photos by Alexander James. Great detail in under water photohraphy.

I found this incredible photographer from one of my clients the other day.  When i looked it up, it looks almost alive and even looks like paintings.

The work of Alexander James, a London-based contemporary artist, draws from this tradition while making a few liberal interpretations. His work objectifies and delights in decaying fruit, cut flowers, insects and animal carcasses, placing them in familiar arrangements with a notable, but nearly often imperceptible difference – they are, in fact, underwater.

Her DJ sets reflect her eclectic taste, delving into a world of weird and challenging music. Her sound could be heard as somewhere between from house, dub to techno with a healthy dose of deep groove and funk thrown into the mix.
Her music has been well received in Hamburg where she has been supporting growing underground parties and she has become a friendly face at clubs like Baalsaal or Waangenbau.

‘Refound’ – Musician in East London

Up and coming musician – ‘Refound’

Refound has popped up all over the country and has definitely made a mark on the scene. Being a founding member of music and arts collective S-U-B-C-U-L-T-U-R-E and having a feature on Radio 1 Extra under his belt, Refound is definitely not one to shy away from getting his hands dirty in the UK hip-hop scene. Refound comes with a very distinct and unique style. Regularly using deep spiritual metaphors to portray the way he see’s the world, Refound communicates his own life experiences through his music, making each of his tracks a journey different from the last. Refound demonstrates these characteristics in his latest EP Dead flowers.

Many of the Chicken and Chips strips are inspired by the artist’s own experiences as a teacher. Graham Howie has had an exhibition at MCM expo.

Poparama Party is Back!

This is a link to a video of the latest Poparama party presented by Rewind Time. It was an 80s themed party on the 8th of September. Here is video that I would like to share with you.

It was great fun! Thanks all of you who came to the party!

I’m looking forward to organizing the next one…

Be transported back to the Jazz age at The Cakewalk Cafe…

If you’re into vintage style and old-time tunes then Cakewalk Cafe will be right up your street!
Held at eclectic Dalston hang out Passing Clouds every Wednesday evening, Cakewalk Cafe transports you back to a time of gin-soaked prohibition dancehalls and jazz-fuelled fun.
Surrounded by battered sofa’s, faded mirrors and tasselled lampshades, The Cakewalk band, lead by Ewan Bleach, play an atmospheric mix of jazz and blues, often joined by guest musicians including TJ Johnson and Natty Bo (of Ska Cubano fame!)
Its a relaxed night where you can equally collapse in an armchair with a glass of wine or swing out to the music. The night has gathered quite a following from the swing dance scene, and the vintage clad couples on the floor only add to the jazz-den vibe.
So, don your dancing shoes, gals put on your finest red lippy and go pretend like you’re in a Fitzgerald novel…
I can’t wait to get dressed up and unwind there soon.
7pm – Ewan Bleach on the Piano
8.30pm – Live hot Jazz from the Cakewalk band and guests
11pm – till late – Jam session
£3 entry, free for those attending the swing dance classes downstairs (see http://www.swingpatrol.co.uk)

LFW – Turk Jadallah A/W 2012

Probably the most impressive spectacle at Fashion Week, British/Saudi designer Turk Jadallah sent an exquisite parade of hand-finished dresses at the ballroom at Claridges on the 14th of September. I had the privilege of doing the hair back stage and I was amazed at the elegance and the detail on the dresses. Jadallah cited Audrey Hepburn as the influence for this collection.

The textures and the materials used on the above dress were outstanding. It really created a sensational image of femine beauty.

This dress had a more of a sophisticated edge.

This dress used soft pink colors and gentle textures with great effect.

This is one of my favorites from the collection. An image of style, class and with exquisite detail on the dress.

The venue was absolutely stunning and I really enjoyed the day. It was especially good work the models and the staff; everybody was so enthusiastic about the whole event.

Rewind Time is my personal venture and passion, and is an experience that celebrates times gone by. The launch night celebrated the 1950s last year in May and it was a great success, not to mention fun! After that, this year in March, we had an 1980s night. It was even better, so I decided to do another 80s theme party once again. This time It will be all about MUSIC, DANCE and MAKEOVERS!

Jumpin 80s musician

Jumpin 80’s was formed in 2011 by Mike after receiving many requests at events to perform songs from the 80’s. Having played with hundreds of musicians Mike chose only the best to join him in creating something extraordinary, a 4-piece band that sounds like a 7-piece. Jumpin 80’s play the biggest anthems of the 80’s by the world’s most celebrated artists from the pop of Madonna and Michael Jackson to the disco of Pointer Sisters to the rock of Guns N Roses and Bon Jovi. Every song is a hit and Jumpin 80’s can play them all.

Another Brilliant Artist – Anna Walsh

Anna Walsh

Anna is predominantly a painter and drawer, and animals have been a life-long theme for her, spanning from her early childhood right up to and beyond her MA at Camberwell College of Art.

Her work draws upon her  knowledge and love of the natural world, through photographs and books as well as painting, illustration and mixed media. She is interested in its ordering and classification systems, and how humans influence and manipulate the way animals in particular evolve and are depicted.

She produces work in a range of contexts from her ironic illustrations for textile products and limited edition prints, to more thought-provoking collections for exhibitions about endangered species or specific breeds.

Anna has an annual solo show in Notting Hill and is very active with commissions and exhibitions across London and the UK. She has work in a variety of private collections, including Ralph Whistlers Dodo Museum in Hastings, as well as in the Tate Gallery’s collection of artists books.

A new addition to the much-loved Dogs of London project, Anna Walsh has created the Dogs of London Map – a large scale print that puts the capital’s pooches in their places!

The key to the map describes each breed using quotes from Richard Hamilton Glyn’s ‘Champion dogs of the World’ book, and viewers will delight in the hilariously uncanny matching of pets to the inhabitants of London’s postcode districts.

The art & design collective she is also part of is –  http://www.garudiostudiage.com/

Budget Budgies – Camberwell Special

Taking inspiration from the cut-throat world of budgerigar shows and natural history illustrations, ‘Budget Budgies’ celebrates the weird world of champion budgerigar breeding and gives it a high street twist.

The bizarre yet beautiful exhibition, spots the similarities between budgie breeding and budget high street shops (in this case in Camberwell) bringing a wonderfully exotic display of feathered friends to The Butterfly Walk Shopping Centre. Whilst budgie owners obsess over pedigrees, colours and fanciful names, high street shops battle to grab the attention with bright logos and catchy slogans.

With a bird for each brand, the hand drawn budgies have been ‘bred’ to sport the shops’ corporate colours and given suitably lavish names, incorporating brand slogans, shedding new light on our familiar urban environment.A lot more of her work, please go to her web-site – http://www.annawalsh.co.uk/

Rewind Time is delighted to promote her work.  This blog site will be on the Rewind Time main web-site soon.

Thanks for visiting!

Have you been to John Soane’s Museum yet?

Sir John Soane’s Museum is one of London’s hidden gems, near Holborn Tube station. The Museum used to be the home of Sir John Soane, a 17th and 18th century architect and collector of bits and bobs from all over the world! It’s an absolutely stunning building, filled with fabulous things. I absolutely loved every single of it at this Museum.

Look at the surface of the ceilings. Very well designed furniture shapes and textures. Each room has got so many different feelings. When i went to basement, I even got the shivers.

There is ornate furniture, oriental objects, paintings, building fabrics, medieval and classical antiquities ect.  This place really takes you back to the 17th and 18th century.

If you haven’t been there yet, I would highly recommend to go. It’s a very interesting and exquisite place!

I loved hearing about the paintings in the picture room. They are full of stories, endless stories…

Thanks for visiting!
